Ew. That was gross.
Anyway... it's.. kind of a rainy day! Well, I'm pretending it is. It's cloudy... and I heard thunder before.. but it's still 8003 degrees outside, so... not exactly the rainy day where you can curl up on the couch in sweats and watch a movie. I could curl up on the couch, except I don't put ON sweats.. I just sweat period. Bleh.
So instead, I'm sitting in the only room that has air conditioning, the bedroom. And listening to sad Christmas music like I'll Be Home For Christmas.. Dreaming of a White Christmas.. *tear.
But since I can't have a white Christmas this year, I've already started turning our house into a Christmas wonderland! It's starting to look like Santa threw up in here.. but I don't care. I bought mugs with snowmen on them, created a centerpiece with fake fluffy cotton snow.. the tree is up with lights.. I think Deison is starting to be afraid. He's not really a Christmas person. Until he married me that is. Muwahaha.
We're different.
In a lot of ways.. like food ways especially. I like to get creative in the kitchen. Try new stuff. Sometimes it's a hit, and sometimes it's... well..
Like the other day I made home made enchiladas. As in... I even made the tortilla shells from scratch. I loaded it with beans, cheese, corn, salsa... and then topped it with a red pepper sauce. I was SO proud, and thought it was just so delicious!
Spicy, flavorful, yum.
So I asked him after a few bites, "do you like it??" Thinking I would already know the answer. I mean, what's not to like?!
He hesitates, and then says, "yeah.. it's ok."
Ummmmmm OKAY?!
"What? Just ok? You don't like it?"
And he says, "I just.. I don't get why you would put beans inside of it."
Bewildered I reply, "It's an enchilada! Have you never eaten Mexican food before?"
His answer: "No."
Well then. Next time I should think twice about mixing up the holy grail of Brazilian food *beans* into something so uninteresting as an enchilada...
So my point is.. I never know if it's going to be a hit or miss. However, I was in a creative mood the other day and I made these: Homemade
First, I boiled the green-something-that-looks-like-spinach until it was really soft. Then I chopped it up and tossed it in a pot and fried it a bit.
Then I made the filling. I tossed together garlic, red pepper, cheese and milk and them all boiled together to create a kind of alfredo sauce. I also separated them into equal balls, as I hate when you get to the last one and there's way too much or not enough...
I was going to make the pasta too, but I remembered my attempt at a pie crust *fail* so I used the dough for pastel which is a deep fried Brazilian treat.. that kind of reminds me of rollkuchen. I hear Wanton wrappers work good too, but I have no idea what those are and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't find them here.
Then I smeared the spinach-esque filling and the red pepper cheese filling together and pressed the squares together. A few minutes in boiling water and ta da! Even Deison thought they were good ;)

Those look very delish! Glad Deison liked them. You may make those when you come home.
